Super Mario Galaxy VS Super Mario Sunshine: Graphics Comparison

Here's a comparison of Both Mario games being run at 480p.

To tell you the truth I couldn't really tell that much difference in the graphics department, Sunshine looks as good as Galaxy. The only major difference in my opinion, between the two games isn't the graphics but the sound, the orchestral score in Galaxy is amazing and absolutely demolishes the midi music of Sunshine.

I've played a bit of Super Mario Galaxy and I gotta say it lived up to the hype. The game feels so comfortable to play using the Wiimote and there's a lot to do in the game, which should keep people playing for a long time.

There isn't a super-duper difference, but there is definitely a difference. That video shows it if anything.

Galaxy features many effects that were not in Sunshine. Reflections, specular shine, heavy use of particle effects, real time lighting, fur shading, greater draw distances... You need to actually play Galaxy and see some of the shit the game pulls off and then you'll see it looks much better than Sunshine and that there is a definite difference. Drastically in some cases. Some stages look so amazing from a graphical standpoint its serious and don't get me started on the final cut scenes. Whew!

Super Mario sunshine had decent graphics (the only half decent thing about the whole game), but they were blurry. Anything that wasn't on the same depth of plane as Mario was blurred out and it was annoying. Nintendo will probably lie and say "Oh, it's a heat effect!" But when you'd notice it inside buildings and shit you'd soon realise it was some graphical issue. The Windwaker had the same thing, it used to hurt my eyes. The textures also looked plain and washed out.
